I was approached by FediTools – a group of engineers who make tools for the federated social media networks, such as Misskey and Mastodon – to create them a mascot/logo and accompanying colour palette for their work. They wanted a similar style to the duolingo owl, and a warm palette. We settled on an Oxpecker (A small bird who preens larger mammals) wearing a overalls, as they’re engineers.
